Phenoxyethanol is a preservative used in cosmetics and personal care products. It is generally effective against bacteria but has weak activity against yeast and mold and so it is generally used in combination with other preservatives such as Potassium Sorbate.
Phenoxyethanol is stable up to 85°C and works within pH 3 to 10.
